Some dumb idea from Goodyear circa 1961. Dumb dummies never brought it to market, probably because they realized at the last minute how dumb an idea it was.
Here's some more dumb pictures of the dumb things:

I wonder what they were thinking when they got this idea... Must've been drunk like fuck.

Call me crazy, but I'd wait in line for tyres that light up like that! (Considering their performance as an actual tyre isn't diminished by the lighting effects.)

Not quite light tires, but equally as dumb.

Right? There's a huge hole in the aftermarket for this. But can you imagine the SEMA show floor if something like that was on every other car?

I used to be able to post from work, but no more. I still pop in occasionally with failed Goodyear products, though.

Nah. I'd get UV bulbs for them so the crosswalk and lane markings would glow as you drove past them.

I HAVE TO DO THIS!!!
You are brilliant. That would be the greatest tasteless modification ever.

If they could do this for open-wheel racers they could run night races without lights on the cars.

think of the long exposure photo that would make

We don't have lighted tires, but you can get Pimpstar wheels...
